4 Junior News

Over the past two weeks in maths 4 Junior have been learning about shape and have enjoyed exploring which shapes fit together to make a tiled pattern. Some of us made pictures from the shapes too.

In science we continued to look at sound this week our focus was pitch. We found out that by blowing over the top of an empty glass bottle the sound was loud and deep and a higher sound was achieved as the water level increased in the bottle. We also tapped the bottle with a pencil and found out that a full bottle gave a lower sound than an empty bottle. We had fun learning how to blow across the top of the bottle. Some of us managed better than others! We then worked as two groups to see if we could play a familiar tune for the other group to guess. Each bottle was filled to a different level with water.
