7J Interviews - Junior Teaching Staff

7J have thoroughly enjoyed interviewing a variety of staff around the school. We thought this would be a wonderful idea for everyone to get to know the staff better, and an interesting and engaging literacy and writing topic for the 7 Junior girls to work on this term. Over the next few weeks you will be able to read the short biographies written by 7 Junior.

Mrs O’Neill

Mrs O’Neill has been teaching at St Megs for only a year as a seven junior teacher and has already proved to be a fabulous teacher! She has taught in many schools all over the world, including Lairhillock in Aberdeenshire. She is in Kildrummy House with her two daughters, Sophie and Chloe. One of her first jobs was in a sweet shop weighing out all the sweets (and at Easter sometimes eating them too!) which she enjoyed thoroughly. When she was younger she wanted to be a vet or a marine biologist as she liked snorkelling, diving and swimming. Her favourite subjects at school were English and history and her favourite book was ‘Shadow the Sheepdog’ by Enid Blyton and ‘The BFG’ by Roald Dahl. In her free time she enjoys reading, snowboarding, paddle boarding, cooking, reading and skiing which she’s done several times in the Alps. She has lived in many different places including Loch Lomond, New Zealand, Australia, Qatar and Abu Dhabi. She has had many pets over the years. Her current pet is a German Wirehaired Pointer called Monty, who is 4 years old and black and white.

Mrs Binfield

Mrs Binfield is in Dunnottar and has been working at the school for two years as the 2 Junior teacher. She started as a classroom assistant and a Rainbows group leader for Girl Guiding. She enjoys seeing children progress in learning and feeling comfortable in their learning environment. When Mrs Binfield was younger her dream was to become a part of the Royal Air Force, where she worked before becoming a teacher. Her favourite lesson in school was PE because she loves sport in general but mostly enjoys hockey and netball.

Mrs Binfield's first ever job was as a paper round but she also worked in a sweet shop at the same time. She loved bike riding around and talking to the customers. For hobbies Mrs Binfield enjoys mountain biking, netball, paddleboarding and running. She has a pet dog, his name is Enzo and he is an Italian Water Spaniel. She grew up in Cornwall but she has also lived in France and Italy.

Ms Dressel

Ms Dressel has worked in the Junior department for 18 years. She is the head of Kildrummy and has taught 2,3,4 and 7 Junior. Ms Dressel loves St Margaret’s because the staff are really friendly. She also likes the fact that it is an all girls school. She was saying how she likes the school because it is one small community, a family. Ms Dressel told us that her teachers as a child/teenager inspired her to become a teacher herself. She always wanted to help people reach their potential and make sure they get the best education possible. In 7 Junior Ms Dressel wanted to be a PE teacher because she was sporty as a kid and captain of the netball team. Even though she loved PE she also really enjoyed English. Her first job, when she was 16 years old, was working as a newsagent and she had to weigh out the sweets. This was her Saturday job.

Ms Dressel loves playing the piano, she likes reading books way more than watching movies and her favourite book is Harry Potter. She also likes running and spending time with her grandsons. Ms Dressel was born in Aberdeen and moved to England when she was two. She was educated in High Wycombe and moved to Aberdeen for her last year of senior school. Ms Dressel has 3 children called Rebekah, Joseph and Hannah. She also has 2 grandchildren called Rory and Louis. Ms Dressel’s favourite food is sweet and sour chicken or apple crumble with custard. Ms Dressel is a great teacher currently teaching 7 Junior A. She is a mother of three children and 2 grandchildren and loves them to bits.
