Classes are small by design

In our junior school there are no composite classes and, by design, classes are smaller than many others in the city. Alongside their dedicated primary teacher, girls from 1 Junior upwards benefit from the input of specialist teachers in French, PE, drama, and music. Specialist teaching in Art begins in 5 Junior with Latin and the discrete sciences of biology, chemistry and physics introduced in 7 Junior.

The smaller size of our classes enables our teachers to quickly develop an understanding of each pupil’s strengths, interests and learning styles. Each girl’s voice can be heard in class discussions, supporting self-confidence and a sense of belonging in the classroom.

Socially, girls mix with all the junior year groups and benefit from the strong role models and ‘big sisters’ from our senior school. The varied extra-curricular programme provides many opportunities for enrichment and the ethos of hard work and ambition is infectious.

At St Margaret’s we are dedicated to nurturing and challenging each individual to be the best she can be. Parents are our most valued partners in this endeavour and are encouraged to be regular visitors to the school. Parent teacher meetings, Well Done Wednesdays and Find Out Fridays, to name but a few events, offer parents the opportunity to experience the vibrant and purposeful atmosphere of our school for themselves.

If you would like to find out more about what St Margaret’s junior school can offer your daughter, please do be in touch with our admissions office who will be pleased to arrange a meeting with the Head and a personal tour.
