II Senior have been learning about different joints and the roles of tendons and ligaments in the body in Biology. To demonstrate this, we have been dissecting chicken wings as they resemble the structure of the human arm. They were able to identify tendons and use these to move the wing tips taking note of how the antagonistic pairs of muscles work. They could locate the ligaments holding the bones together at the 'elbow' joint and identify cartilage on the ends of the bones. They were also able to see the difference between the bone ends for a hinge joint and a ball and socket joint.
