Interview with Blessed McDonald – Head Girl session 2023-24

Can you introduce yourself and tell us a little bit about yourself, your interests and hobbies?

My name is Blessed McDonald. My interests and hobbies include reading, music and I love collecting vinyls. I also like Ice skating. One of my favourite places to be is by the sea making beach bonfires. Spending time and making memories with my friends is also very important to me.

When did you join St Margaret’s?

I Joined St Margaret's in 7 Junior.

What attracted you to the role of Head Girl?

I want to be a role model to younger students and to be more involved in service such as St Margaret’s day service and the Carol service. I also love being involved in joining ideas from the student and teacher body.

What was the interview process like and how did you prepare?

Before the interview, I had a pre- interview talk with last year's head girl team, who answered all of my questions about the role as well as adding their own insights and words of encouragement.

To prepare for the interview I read over what I said in my application letter and came up with some ideas for the school in the future.

What qualities do you think a good Head Girl should possess?

I feel that a good head girl should be open minded, willing to try other people's suggestions. They should be able to time manage and realise they don't have to do everything by themselves.

What are your roles and responsibilities?

My roles include, heading the prefect team, speaking at events, giving votes of thanks, and doing assemblies.

“I would like to create more spaces and ways that people can socialise using clubs and to feel more comfortable.”

What are your hopes for the coming year?

My hopes for the coming year is to connect the year groups more to make St Margaret's an even more community driven school.
