1. Where are you originally from?
I come from Vevey in the French speaking part of Switzerland, between Geneva and Montreux, where the famous Montreux Jazz Festival takes place every summer. It’s a beautiful region, with Lake Geneva, the alps nearby, and the vineyards of Lavaux! Switzerland is also famous for its multilingualism, its chocolate, and its variety of melted cheese dishes!
2. Why did you come to Aberdeen?
I came to Aberdeen to be a French language assistant! I recently finished my studies in English and philosophy in Switzerland, and I wanted to go abroad for a while. I loved the idea of teaching French and francophone culture, as I possibly want to work as a teacher one day.
3. Are you enjoying St Margaret’s so far? What’s your favourite part of your day?
St Margaret is lovely, I’m very happy to be working here! Both staff and students are so friendly and committed, it’s been a pleasure to meet everybody, and I look forward to the upcoming months.
I don’t really have a routine here yet so it’s hard to say about my favourite part of the day. However, I enjoy discovering the atmosphere of an all-girls school, it’s something completely new for me!
4. What do you like to do in your spare time?
It’s a bit cliché coming from a Swiss person, but I really enjoy hiking! I’m not a very sporty person but I love being outside and discovering new landscapes, especially here in Scotland. I also like reading – since finishing my studies I’ve been exploring the joy of reading for myself and not for work, it has been amazing! I also enjoy cooking and baking, yoga and spending time with my friends and family.
