Neurodiversity Celebration Week

Last week we took part in Neurodiversity Celebration Week with a range of activities and events across the school. Our Neurodiversity Cafe proved very popular as pupils from 7 Junior to VI Senior were invited to enjoy some tasty treats whilst viewing and discussing a number of informative videos on the topic. The videos resulting in most discussion were Amazing Things Happen and Keira Knightley - Made By Dyslexia

IV and V Senior pupils also led Mindful Craft in Company’ drop in session at lunchtimes, where pupils could choose from a range of craft activities or bring their own if they preferred listening to relaxing music - Miss Tomloinson brought along her knitting!

A number of staff attended seminars such as ‘How to Create a Neuroinclusive Classroom’, ‘Supporting the Success of Neurodivergent Learners’, and ‘The Experiences of Neurodivergent Women and Girls.’

On Friday morning, Ms Hawthorn led an assembly highlighting some of the different ways of thinking, learning, interacting and perceiving the world. Pupils and staff all wore a different colour ribbon for the day in celebration of our unique strengths and differences. Ms Hawthorn will be hosting a coffee get together for parents of neurodivergent learners on Saturday 22nd April 10.30am - 12 pm at Summerhill. If you are interested in coming along, please email Ms Hawthorn directly. l.hawthorn@st-margaret.uk
