Throughout the past few weeks, our Senior School classes have demonstrated incredible generosity and dedication to supporting local charities, raising significant funds and awareness for a variety of causes.
Supporting Aberdeen Foyer
During the week beginning 25th November, IIA raised funds for Aberdeen Foyer, a charity dedicated to ending homelessness among young people in north-east Scotland. The girls created two hampers filled with goodies and sold raffle tickets during form time, raising an impressive total of £214.45. Aberdeen Foyer’s mission includes preventing and alleviating poverty, making a tangible difference in the lives of vulnerable youth and adults in our community.
Fundraising for CALICO
On Friday 29th November, VM hosted a fair in the school gym in support of CALICO, a charity aiding young people with leukaemia and their families in the Grampian area. The event featured fun and interactive stalls such as a basketball hoop shoot, lucky dip, “Guess the Yeti’s Birthday?”, and a sweet-filled jar guessing game, along with a stall selling cookies, brownies, and other confectionery. Their efforts raised an impressive £191.29 for this worthwhile cause.
Youth Philanthropy Initiative Success
III Senior participated in the Youth Philanthropy Initiative (YPI) final presentation evening. Six groups showcased their creativity and hard work in advocating for their chosen local charities, competing for a £3,000 grant. The first prize of £2,500, generously donated by The Wood Foundation, was awarded to the group representing the Forget-Me-Not Club. Congratulations to Mia, Aya, Millie, Phoebe, and Aditi for their outstanding efforts! The girls will also raise an additional £500 to contribute to this grant.
Charity Concert for Maggie’s Aberdeen
Senior and chamber choirs, alongside our woodwind and clarinet & saxophone ensembles, performed at the annual charity concert in aid of Maggie’s Aberdeen. The event, held at Fountainhall at the Stocket Church, featured collaborations with the Granite City Chorus and AlbaMix. The concert culminated in a memorable performance of ‘A la Media Noche,’ involving all four choirs and audience participation in the form of two-part body percussion. This sold-out event raised an astounding £3,962 for Maggie’s Aberdeen. A heartfelt thank you to everyone who supported this event. You can watch the St Margaret's performance here.
Christmas Spirit for Befriend a Child
IVM worked hard to collect gifts for the local charity Befriend a Child to ensure as many children as possible had a magical Christmas. With the rising cost of living, many families supported by Befriend a Child faced significant challenges during the festive season. By donating gifts, IVM aimed to bring joy and provide meaningful experiences for these children. Last year, the charity raised over £15,000 and delivered gifts to over 180 local children. This year, our form class was proud to contribute to continuing this wonderful tradition.
Thank You for Your Support
We are incredibly proud of our senior school girls for their enthusiasm and commitment to making a difference in our community. Thank you to parents, staff, and friends who supported these initiatives.
