For girls interested in joining St Margaret’s in August 2025 the journey begins with registering for a place, and thereafter your daughter will be invited to our entrance assessment morning which will take place on Saturday, 25th January 2025. Applicants are fully supported during this process, and benefit from meeting key staff and forming friendships with peers from other schools and year groups during their visit. At any stage during the application process, we invite families to come and visit us to meet with our Head, and to have a tour of our school and facilities.
Supporting a Smooth Transition
Girls joining in S1 benefit from an engaging and varied induction day in late May. This day includes:
· Class sessions across a wide range of specialist subjects.
· Informal meet and discussion opportunities with our Deputy Head and guidance team.
· Familiarisation with the school’s layout and key staff.
· Games and activities in the afternoon to help build friendships in a relaxed and inclusive setting.
Welcoming Parents and Families
The transition into S1 can be an uncertain time for parents as well as for pupils, but we are confident that girls will feel reassured and excited by their experiences with us, as we support and guide them through the application process, helping to ensure the smoothest start possible for their secondary education.
At the beginning of the new academic session, a welcome evening for S1 parents not only provides our new families with a warm welcome to the school community, but shares important and helpful information in supporting their daughter in her first year of senior school.
Parents are able to meet key members of the Senior Leadership Team, Guidance and Support for Learning teams, and to hear about the many benefits that their daughter can enjoy as a pupil in a single-sex school, including small classes where every individual is well-known and can flourish. Sharing an overview of the S1 Senior curriculum gives parents an overview of the exciting opportunities - both within and outside the classroom - that await their daughters in the next stage of her education.
We are fully committed to working in partnership with parents, not only in the process of transition, but also in every aspect of their daughter’s development, formation and education throughout the girls' time in senior school. It is the start of a very exciting chapter in their lives!
